School Year Calendars
NKSD's school calendar is established in cooperation with staff and the School Board. The calendar is set well in advance so that families can synchronize their activities with school schedules. Please note: Weather-related makeup days are added to the end of any school year or as noted on the calendar.
2024 - 2025 School Year Calendar
Important Dates:
- August 27: First Day for Grades 1 - 12
- August 30 - September 2: No School - Labor Day Break
- September 3 - First Day for Kindergarten
- December 23 - January 3: No School - Winter Break
- April 7 - April 11: No School - Spring Break
- June 17: Last Day of School - Half Day Dismissal

All schools have a 60-minute early release schedule each Wednesday.
Elementary School (Kindergarten through Grades 5)
Regular Schedule: 9:20 a.m. to 3:50 p.m.
Wednesday Early Release Schedule: 9:20 a.m. to 2:50 p.m.
Conference Half Day Release (10/25/23 and 3/20/24 only): 9:20 a.m. to 12:10 p.m.
Half Day Release: 9:20 a.m. to 12:20 p.m.
Only breakfast is served on half days. No lunch service.
