NO STATE TESTING THIS YEAR due to Coronavirus-19! 2019-20
Washington State Student Testing
Washington State Assessments of Student Learning
(in short, state testing)
When is the required state
testing this year?
The Smarter Balanced
Assessment will be given to students in grades 3-5 at Suquamish and 5th
grade students in science. This assessment will be given this spring. Dates to
be determined soon.
What is the Smarter
Balanced Test?
The Smarter Balanced has
been developed to assess the Common Core State Standards in math and English
language arts, which State Superintendent Randy Dorn adopted in 2011. These
assessments are relatively new. Scores for individual students, schools,
or districts will be available in the summer. Families should encourage their
children to do their best, get plenty of rest and have a healthy
breakfast.
Like the MSP,
the Smarter Balanced test assesses how well students have
mastered the state expectations for student learning. Students in all
three grades will be tested in math and English language Arts, and fifth
graders will take the science portion of the MSP.
